Principal Report

Dear Parents, Friends and Guardians,

As you are most likely aware, a distressing video was circulated recently via the Tik Tok social media platform. It is upsetting that something like this is shared, but even more concerning is that it was not removed immediately. I heard the figure of 20% nominated for Tik Tok users under 12 years. This is below the recommended age and yet we seem to see it as socially acceptable that children access such platforms. This is a very timely reminder for you as parents to know what your children are accessing. A parent’s responsibility has always been to protect their children from harm and this is currently harder than ever to do. I encourage you to check in with your primary aged children that have devices. If your child has viewed such inappropriate and damaging content, they will require your attention and support.

We are encouraging people who encounter inappropriate content to report it to the social media platform they’ve seen it on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content

Please encourage anyone who may be at risk or experiencing emotional distress, including worried family and friends, to contact one of the services listed in the wellbeing section of this newsletter.

Following recent announcements from our Premier, next term for all of our children will look like this:

Week 1 October 5th: On-line learning continues.  We will give further updated details next week.

Week 2 October 12th: All children F-6 return to on-site learning.
