WELLBEING

Lockdown is difficult and it is hard to see the positives. But what if there were many that we hadn’t even thought about. If you can take a mindful moment to read through this reflection it may help to find some small parts of each of our day that we can be grateful for.

TREAT WITH JO

Something for the whole family:

Jo Gibbs is a wellbeing professional who will be running a session for the whole St James community on Thursday September 8th from 4:30-5:15pm.

This virtual session is designed to rest and relax your nervous system, reduce anxiety and help cope with the current wave of fatigue that many parents, staff and our children are feeling.  Please see attached flyer for more information.

If you and/or family members are able to attend, please respond to the Operoo which was sent last week, by Friday 3 September.

R U OK? Day

On Friday 10th September, students at St James will be taking part in  R U OK? Day activities within their classrooms and House Groups. Students will meet in their usual classroom morning google meet.

They will then break off into house colour groups from Prep-Year 2 and Year 3-5. If you are unsure of your child's house colour group please let me know.

There will be 4 activities run by the year 6 student leaders through google meet.

  • Scribble I-O
  • Who is that baby?
  • Where am I?
  • Art for Kidshub

A timetable with the links to each activity will be sent via the classroom teachers. The timetable will follow the following times. Students will need textas, paper and colouring pencils for Art for Kidshub and their chromebook or ipad?

STEM

STEM MAD showcase

The day has finally arrived!!! A number of AMAZING 5/6 students have been working hard over the past 3 weeks to create 90 second videos showcasing the innovative ideas they have developed to continue to grow and develop the Heritage garden. We are so proud of the time and effort the students put into these video submissions, as it wasn't easy, working together remotely to create the videos. Submissions close tomorrow afternoon and we hope to hear in the coming week if the students have been selected as finalists for the showcase in October.  GO ST JAMES!!!

SUSTAINABILITY

Schools Sustainability Festival 2021

Last year the St James community was asked to present to the Schools Sustainability Festival 2020 to share the amazing transformation of our Heritage garden. We have once again been invited back to share the progress we have made over the past 12 months. A group of Year 5 students have been working with Mrs Herbert and have put together a presentation that they will share next Thursday.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Fathers Day Liturgy

This weekend we celebrate Fathers Day and all the special role models in our lives. A link will be sent out tomorrow morning for the Fathers Day Liturgy. We hope you take the time to sit down and celebrate in prayer with those around you.
