OSHClub

What we’ve been up to at OSHC!

It’s been a little quieter than usual here at OSHClub due the recent lockdown, however, we’ve had an amazing time creating fabulous activities for children and families to do at home!

OSHC at Home

Staying connected with families within the community, the team at St James OSHClub decided to start our own OSHC at home! We absolutely love our afternoon clubs here at St James OSHClub, so each afternoon we have been sending out will some activity ideas from our art, sports, cooking, sustainability and coding clubs.

This week we read Florette by Anna Walker for Book Week, got fit and active as we played sock basketball, regrew spring onions and got messy in the Kitchen with Laura and Lidia!

If you’d like to have a look at some great activity ideas for your family during lockdown, please feel free to check out all our recorded club ideas and videos here!

We hope you love bringing a little bit of OSHC home with you!

Family Tree

Recently at OSHC, we’ve been working on the creation of our OSHClub family tree. Charlie in Grade 1 has helped to paint the sign for this area and has been the first family to join our tree. We hope to use this space as an area to celebrate the different cultures and families that make up the OSHC community at St James.

If you currently attend OSHC, we would greatly appreciate if you could send through a family photo so that we can build our tree!

Spotlight on the Community: R U OK Day

This week we are sharing some information from the R U OK organisation for positive mental wellbeing. Held on Thursday the 9th of September, R U OK’s vision is a world where we’re all connected and protected from suicide. Especially relevant during these times of uncertainty and mental strain, R U OK Day encourages connection and confidence among individuals to reach out to their loved ones in times of need. We fully support the mission and vision for positive mental wellbeing for all individuals at St James OSHClub and encourage families to take the time this week to check in with their loved ones and ask, R U OK?

If you or anyone you know is in need of crisis support or just someone to talk to, you can reach out to LIFELINE on 13 11 14.

We love feedback!

As part of our commitment to ongoing quality improvement within the program, we are seeking feedback from families and communities!

This week we are focusing on Quality Area 2 of the National Quality Standard: Children’s Health and Safety.

What are we working on?

A meaningful approach to healthy eating is promoted within our weekly menus and aligns with relevant governing guidelines (NQS 2.1.3).

Question:

What would you like to see the service include in our menus? (NQS 2.1.3).

In relation to your child’s dietary needs, what’s important to you? (NQS 2.1.3).

We would love your feedback and insight. Please follow the link to provide us with some feedback in this area!

Father’s Day!

On behalf of the team here at St James OSHClub, we’d like to wish all families a safe and restful weekend with their loved ones. We hope that all families have an opportunity to enjoy some quality family time together, celebrating the amazing contributions of Fathers and Special Friends in our lives!
