National Science Week

Did you know that your refrigerator uses the most energy in your kitchen? Or that tomatoes are a fruit (not a vegetable!), and originated in South America?

This year’s National Science Week took place from August 14-22 with the theme of “Food: Different by Design”. Students were challenged to test their knowledge each day with a quiz focused on how science can supercharge our food future. Congratulations to all students who participated, and a special congratulations to those who were our daily and overall winners!

Even though most of us were learning at home for National Science Week this year, this didn’t stop our science teachers from running some fun remote lessons. Our students participated in interactive science-themed activities, watched fun science demonstrations from teachers over Teams, and were encouraged to have a go at their own science experiments at home.

If you’d like to join in the fun, you can find a list of home-friendly science activities below. For our students, make sure you check with an adult at home first!
