2021 Chess Victoria under 16s Girls Champion – Jennifer Morrison

A big congratulations to Jennifer Morrison of Year 8 who competed in the Victorian Junior Chess Championship held at Glen Waverley Secondary College in July, and is now the 2021 Chess Victoria U16 Girls Champion!

Jennifer can now add this title to her Chess Victoria U16 Girls Aged Rapid Championship title that she won at the same venue earlier this year. This is a remarkable achievement.

Jennifer’s father, Iain, wrote: “I hope in sharing this happy news it might provide some motivation for more girls to learn and play at BSC. There are many benefits (educational and mental health) to be gained from playing Chess.”

The chess club, along with Jennifer, was hoping to compete face-to-face in an upcoming inter-school chess competition at Glen Eira College. The tournament is still going ahead but online due to restrictions. It will be happening on Tues August 31st between 9.30-1.30.
