FAITH MATTERS

MS ALISON WRIGHT - DIRECTOR OF MISSION

The annual St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal was launched in early May. The appeal this year calls us to “help Australian families find a place to sleep this winter”. Each night, more than 250,000 children are experiencing homelessness across Australia. Homelessness can be classed as those who have no permanent residence, short stays in temporary accommodation or shelters, couch surfing, or continued moving between different types of accommodation.

Each year during this appeal, our school supports people in various forms of need by holding a collection drive, normally consisting of bringing in non-perishable food items to be donated to our local St Vinnies Chapter here in Swan Hill.

Due to continued COVID restrictions, at this point, we will be seeking monetary donations for the appeal. More information will be shared with students as to how this will occur.

This Sunday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Feast is about a God who knows the heart of the people, a God who loves us with great tenderness. A God who binds up wounds, reaches down to feed the hungry and who fills our hearts with that same love in order that we too become the heartbeat of God flowing through our world.
