PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Thank you once again to our school community for the wonderful way that you transitioned into remote learning and then back onto site.  Wearing masks has again made us more uncomfortable, however we know that wearing masks and maintaining good hand hygiene is one way that we can protect each other.  The wearing of masks indoors has been mandated by the State Government, therefore I would appreciate all of our students having their own mask when they come to school. We have some masks available for emergency situations, however we are unable to provide masks at the current rate for all students.

Letters were sent to all parents/guardians and students this week in regard to the changes around accessing mobile phones from Term 3.  From Monday 12th July all students from Year 7 to 11 must turn their mobile phone off by 8:45am and lock it in their locker.  Mobile phones are then not to be turned on again until after 3:15pm.  If you require a message to get to your child prior to 3:15pm, please call the school and leave a message with the Front Receptionist or the Pastoral Care Centre Receptionist.  Students that require their phone for medical reasons must speak firstly to the House Leader and then approval will be made by the Principal.  Thank you to parents/guardians that have already provided very positive feedback.

Thank you also to the parents that have taken the time to complete the School Improvement Review - Parent/Guardian Feedback survey.  This is a long survey, however you can complete a small section or the whole survey.  Any feedback from our parents is welcome.  The survey will remain open until Friday 18th June.

On Thursday 27th May we welcomed Jim Hogan to our staff, as he takes over the classes of Gemma Harrower who has begun parental leave.  On Wednesday 16th June we will also welcome Hayley Neuschafer to our staff and onto our Wellbeing Team.  I am grateful for both Jim and Hayley as they come with a wealth of knowledge and experience in their respective areas.

Our prayers are with the Hill family Charlie Hill’s (Year 10) younger brother Lukas was in a serious accident and is in hospital in Melbourne.  This week the school has collected money to donate to the Beverford District Primary School’s money line.  A further fundraiser is being planned by some of our Year 11 VCAL students for Term 3.

The Winter Solstice is almost here, meaning that after 21st June the daylight hours will start increasing.  It has been wonderful to receive some much needed rain for our earth this week.  I pray that there is more to come, especially for those that require the rain for their livelihood.
