Principal's Report

Acting Principal Michelle Mackenlay

We were all shocked to hear about the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases and how this has led to the new circuit breaker restrictions for Victoria. The restrictions will be in place from 11.59pm Thursday 27th May,  for a seven-day period.

Following advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible learning from Monday 31 May to Thursday 3 June inclusive.

The Department of Education is in daily contact with schools in order to provide the latest advice on how schools are to deal with the emerging coronavirus pandemic. It also provides regularly updated advice to parents on the Department of Health and Human Services website.

Remote and Flexible Learning at Clyde Primary School

On Monday, students will receive learning tasks via the Seesaw application. These tasks are designed for this short burst of remote and flexible learning, and look quite different to last year's in-depth program. We encourage all students and their families to do their best with these learning tasks, but understand some families may find this challenging.

Over the week teachers will be monitoring student work on Seesaw as well as being onsite to supervise students.

We are hoping that this short term lockdown will enable us to be back at school together quickly. However, if the restrictions remain in place for longer, we will adapt our program accordingly.

Our PLT Assemblies are scheduled at the times below. We encourage parents to attend if they can to celebrate some of our students' achievements. Parents will be notified earlier if there are any restrictions on these events occuring.

Playground Donations

We would like to thank Bunnings Clyde North for some recent donations to our school. You may have noticed the cubby houses in the front playground have recently been

brightened up with paint donated by Bunnings. I would also like to thank Shayla and Ryley, two of our ex-students who gave up their time to paint them for us, as well as Stephanie Harrip, one of our Foundation parents, who has donated a play kitchen for the cubbies that will create hours of fun for our students. We are always on the look out for donations of beach/sand toys for our junior sandpit, if you have any items you could donate we would love for you to bring them to the front office.

Professional Learning for Staff

On Monday 17th May, staff at Clyde PS engaged in professional learning around inclusion and diversity. Neil Cunningham, the Education Department's Improvement Leader for Inclusion met with staff to discuss our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program, what is working well and what our next steps are to further support and improve the program.  We will further update you in upcoming newsletters about the development of this work.

Staffing News

We are thrilled to announce that another member of our Clyde PS team is pregnant. Mrs Emma Grant is expecting her second child to arrive in October. Mrs Grant will continue in her leadership role until later in the year.

Public Holiday

We have an upcoming Public Holiday on Monday 14th June, due to the Queen's Birthday. Students should not attend school on this day.
