Year 9 Morrisby Interviews

All Year 9 students have recently completed the Morrisby Profile and have now been allocated their follow-up interview with a Morrisby-trained Careers Consultant. All interviews will be held between Tuesday 13 July and Friday 16 July during the school day. The interview time, date, and location has been emailed to each Year 9 student's school email address. During the 30-minute session, the profile results will be explained, and the interactive functionality associated with the Morrisby platform will be demonstrated. 

Please note, student interview date and times have been confirmed with external careers consultants and, as a result, requests to change the date or time of the interview will not be able to be accommodated.

Students are encouraged to see Ms Martin if they have any questions. 

Year 10 into 11 Subject Selection

The following resources are available to support Year 10 students with their VCE subject selection. Students are welcome to arrange a time to meet with Ms Martin or Ms Jarvis for course counselling. 

Year 10 Guide to VCE Subject Selection

This publication provides a general overview of the VCE subjects that may be required for entry to a variety of higher education courses (as of March 2021). This guide has been made available to Year 10 students in their Beyond class and can be accessed in One Note.  

The guide aims to give students a general idea of the VCE subjects that may benefit entry into institutions by industry. Once students have the basic ideas sorted, it is recommended that they do a cross check via the VTAC website or with the course guides of individual institutions. 

This is a great starting point for students to investigate relevant subjects that may be suitable to include in their VCE program. However, it should not be the only resource used to investigate prerequisite subjects. 

VTAC CourseSearch

CourseSearch is a tool for researching tertiary courses available through VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre). Year 10 students can use CourseSearch to search their interests and find related courses. Each course entry provides an overview of the course content. CourseSearch gives students a good idea of what courses are available to study, as most of these courses will be available in the future.

The ‘essential requirements’ and ‘admission criteria’ sections list any interviews, tests, supplementary forms or other requirements applicants need to meet. Prerequisite studies, for the next course intake, are also listed here. However, current Year 10 students need to be aware that the information about eligibility and application requirements might change by the time they are ready to apply. This includes prerequisite studies. 

Morrisby 

Year 10 students can log into their Morrisby account and use the ‘Careers’ function. This feature allows students to search careers within different industries and provides recommendations for relevant senior secondary subjects and pathway options. 

Open Days

Below is a list of upcoming open days for multiple further education and training institutions. Open days provide students and families with the opportunity to see facilities, understand more about the institution and the courses on offer, and ask questions.
