Principal's Report

“Be the Change You Want to Sea”

“Be the Change You Want to Sea” is the fantastic mural designed and painted by our Art and Soul Specialism students, supported by their teacher, Emily Koene. It is a great backdrop to the Central Plaza and a creative use of the hoarding which is part of the Stage 2 Build.

The return from remote learning has been smooth and it is wonderful to have students and staff on-site.  We have rescheduled Year 10 Work Experience, Year 9 Urban Expedition Week and the Reef to Rainforest Camp to the start of Term 4. We would like to thank our students and families for their patience and flexibility in response to the last lockdown restrictions. Our students in Year 10 sat their first exams for Mathematics, Communicate and Relate and their VCE subject. We were very proud of their approach to the exams and developing their study skills. This week they have been receiving feedback from their teachers on the exams and this will be important in preparing them for the end of year exams.

Compass ID Card

Students received their Compass ID card today. The card is used as a library card as well as Public Transport Victoria identity. If your son or daughter was absent today, they will need to collect their ID from the office.

Stage 2 Build Update

Stage 2 build has been progressing in leaps and bounds with the last of the major concrete pours finished last week. We will share some internal renders of the spaces in our next newsletter. There will be a number of works beginning during the school holidays.  These include:

  • New Bike Shed – Structural steel to begin June 30th.
  • Structural Steel - Installation has commenced which is why we have the crane on site.
  • Ground Floor Fit Out – Metal stud framing is near completion and services trades have commenced.
  • Level 1 Fit Out – beginning with façade structural steel on Wednesday 23rd June, Metal Stud on 24th June, services to commence Monday 28th June.
  • Brickwork – Brickwork has commenced on the ground floor.
  • Roofing and Aluminium Cladding – Expected to commence.
  • Activity Centre – Food Technology space works to add an acoustic ceiling begin this week. There is external fencing around the site of the extension to the Food Technology space which will be in place until the extension is complete.

End of Term 2

The end of term is fast approaching, Friday June 25th is an early finish for students at 2:30pm. The hope is that the current border restrictions are lifted by our fellow states so that families that booked interstate holidays can still get away. We also know that many are having breaks that are here in Victoria. I hope that everyone is able to travel freely and have a safe and enjoyable break.
