What is Vaping?

Vaping is the inhaling of a vapor created by an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) or other vaping device. They have cartridges filled with a liquid. When using an e-cigarette, the user inhales and exhales the vapour from the heated e-liquid. E-liquid contains a range of chemicals and it may or may not contain nicotine. That's why using e-cigarettes is called "vaping."

They come in a variety of sizes and shapes. They can look like a small computer thumb drive and some are charged in a laptop's USB port. It makes less smoke than other e-cigarettes, so some teens use them to vape at home and in school.

We have been very clear with the entire College community that vaping will not be tolerated and we hope that you will continue to support us by talking to your sons and daughters about the dangers of vaping and the seriousness of bringing those devices onto College premises.

Attendance

We continue to highlight the importance of learning time and again ask that you please use COMPASS or phone the College to record your child's absence.  It is our role to make contact with home if we have not seen a note for a student for 3 consecutive days.  For three days or more we require a medical certificate which you can upload directly to COMPASS or hand in to the front office.

The Mater Dei Wellbeing Team is here to support students and their families so please let us know if you have concerns regarding your child’s attendance.  We thank you for your support with this whole school focus.
