Selemat Siang!

We hope everyone is keeping safe and is doing well during this latest round of lockdown. Please make sure you keep updated on Sentral throughout the week for any updates that may be released. Additionally each day this week we will be holding  daily check in with the students on Google Meet at 10am. This is to keep in touch and allow students time to see and speak to each other.

Although the end of last week turned out not how we had planned, we still managed to have a lot of fun and keep very busy in our classroom. In Literacy, students continued to practise writing information reports. Students discussed how they know that an information report in made up of true facts, and they were able to choose an animal to write their own information report own. When writing these, they continued to focus on our writing goals such as, writing the sounds we can hear in words, using spaces between our words and sitting our letters on the baseline. In Reading Groups students were very excited to be introduced to a new activity in our weekly rotations – the Listening Post! In their small group, students get to plug their headphones in and listen to a story being read, and follow along with their own copy of a book. Once they finished listening, students practised identifying the main character in the story.

In Mathematics, students practised counting and using different materials to make their numbers. They continued to look at part-part-whole, so exploring the different smaller numbers that make up bigger numbers through games. Students also began to explore place value, looking at tens and ones through using icy pole stick and bundles.

As we are unfortunately back in a lockdown, this week students will have a choice board with activities to choose from that is available on Seesaw. Students can upload their response to Seesaw for their teacher to view. As previously stated students will also have a daily check in on Google Meet held at 10am each morning, this is where teachers will be able to take attendance. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher through Sentral.

Wishing you all a lovely week and stay safe!

Miss Tossell, Miss Dawson and Miss Henwood.
