SRC Reps Visit to Monash City Council

On Wednesday 19th May our 4 Middle school SRC representatives: Liam, Anthony, Paris  and Zahra visited the Monash City Council Chambers as part of an initiative to partner with Monash City Council to be part of a Junior Advisory Group.

The aim of this group is to allow all residents of Monash, regardless of their age, to be included and participate in decision making into the future vision for Monash. The project aims to identify areas where the Council can improve engagement with young people and children making it a CHILD FRIENDLY CITY.

The council  offered the SRC representatives the opportunity  to visit the Council Chambers, meet the Local Councillors and ask questions.

Liam, Anthony, Paris and Zahra proudly represented our school and had this to say about their experience:

Liam: What I liked about the Monash Council visit was meeting important people. The important people were James, Simon and Claire

Anthony: I learnt lots about the recycling of paper and how the council promotes sustainability in the Monash area.

Zahra: I enjoyed getting to talk to last year’s Mayor, James. I was also glad that Monash City Council involves kids in future decisions.

Paris: I liked the Monash Council visit because we got to speak to the Mayor of Monash. We got to have fruit and blueberry muffins. We all got little bags to take home. There were lots of books in the bag and we got a mini recycling bin.
