Reflection & Prayer for Coronavirus

The Pandemic challenges us ...... Trust in God

This current lockdown here in Victoria once again brings to the fore that we continue to live in uncertain times.  We are challenged in many ways and are mindful that the Pandemic brings various family and business pressures and stresses.

We know that ideally our children are best at school learning together with their friends and teachers, yet we are challenged to ensure that we are doing the very best for them in Remote  Learning.

On a global level, we recognise the enormity of the Pandemic. I’m sure it can be quite overwhelming as we think of the impact of the Pandemic and all those suffering, particular our relatives and friends.

Amidst these challenges we are invited to trust in God’s mercy and compassion.  We read in Matthew’s Gospel that Jesus said to his disciples  : “I am with you always”.   This message is for us today.

This coming week  we are invited to turn our minds in prayer

For God’s mercy and care....

Dear Loving Father,
You are the loving God of all the nations and peoples on this earth. Please look with mercy and compassion on all you have created.
This day we ask for your help. Please deliver us from the coronavirus and its impact on those suffering in our World. We especially remember at this time those struggling in India and other parts of the world.
In your mercy bring a swift end to this crisis.
Please protect with your loving care those we love – our families, friends and neighbours; those who are near and those who are far away. Let your fatherly hand guide, shelter and strengthen them. Cast out all anxious fears and doubts.
Give us an increasing trust in you and fill our hearts and minds with your peace.
Protect and guide the health professionals who are at the front line.
Please give wisdom and courage to those who bear responsibility for confronting this challenge.

We ask these things through the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
