From the Principal

Many thanks to all the families for responding so quickly and kindly to the news last week of the Circuit Breaker Lock Down and the return of schools to Remote Learning.  Nobody loved the news, but we have to stay strong and make the most of the situation.  Our children are relying on us to be firm, calm and focused during these times. Children take on what we do, so let’s keep our attitudes and actions as positive as possible.

We will be in touch with further updates as advice is received.

Professional Learning

Earlier this term, staff were involved in Professional Learning in the science of  Wellbeing and strategies to enhance student learning at Queen of Peace. Teachers need continued Professional Development to ensure that they are able to meet the needs of all students and to keep up with the latest research into education.

These two days highlighted for me the quality of staff we have at Queen of Peace. The level and depth of discussion by staff indicated a deep commitment to the students. It was indeed a pleasure to work with such a professional and dedicated group of people who have the needs and the interests of the students at the forefront of all they do.

The aim of the Conference was to showcase and build upon the concept that

together, we can get better at our job,

we will be better people through learning

and we are simply a better school and community when we are spending time together.

Queen of Peace is rich in deep values with a clear mission.  The conference focused  directly on two understandings :

  • We all have talents and capabilities that are nurtured in an environment that respects the dignity and worth of the whole person.
  • We value opportunities for learning and reflection that challenge us to aspire to individual excellence.

Mr Fred's Retirement

It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to our Grounds and Maintenance man, Mr Fred. Fred has been an important part of the Queen of Peace since he began doing odd maintenance jobs at the school in 2008.

Fred took great pride in the upkeep of the school and ensuring that the children had a safe, clean and fun environment.  Fred officially finishes at the end of term and was due to visit on Friday so the staff and students could farewell him.  However,  when the lock down was announced we were able to quickly wish Fred all the best on Thursday so he could make his way out of Melbourne to move to the beautiful, small, country town of Paynesville to be close to his family, the forest and fishing.  We hope he will be able to return later in the year for a farewell from the school community.

Warm regards
