SPORT - RUGBY UNION 7s

After several training sessions the Kildare Catholic College (KCC) Rugby Union 7s teams headed to Connolly Rugby Park, Wagga, for the South West Slopes School's 7s Tournament last Thursday week (June 10).
KCC entered six (6) teams overall, with 3 Boys' teams in the Year 7/8s, 9/10s & 11/12s and similar representation for the Girls.
For many players it was their first ever game of Rugby 7s and this probably explained a few bouts of nervousness and apprehension before their first games.
Each team averaged about 4 to 5 games each on the day with great improvement on display as the tournament headed towards the finals.
KCC ended up finishing the day off with some outstanding overall results.
All 3 boys' teams won their respective finals in each of their age groups, as did the Girls' 9/10 team.
The Year 7/8 Girls' team finished runner-up in their age group whilst the Year 11/12 girls' team came up against some very experienced opposition in their age group.
All the respective winners and runner-up teams will now head to Canberra in Term 3 for the Brumbies High School 7s tournament to be contested by ACT Schools, as well as finalists from both the Monaro & Far South Coast schools.
The boys will play on Wednesday July 28 and the girls will play the following week on Wednesday August 4.
A big thank you to Mrs Kendall, Mrs Murray, Mr Hunt, Mr Bacon, Mr Robinson and Alice Toohey for their support before and during the Wagga Tournament.
