E-Learning and Digital Technology

by Paul Evans and Lenita Engelke

Our students have been challenged and enriched by the e-learning and Digital Technologies opportunities offered at our school so far this year.

We have updated and improved our Year 7 and 8 Digital Technologies curriculum and we have provided many other opportunities for digital skill building for all of our students.

The following photos show some of the array of opportunities afforded our students so far this year, including enriching sessions at Casey Tech, and fun, challenging classroom programs.

Let’s pit your own cryptography skills against the Year 7s. This is a coded message given to our Year 7 students. See if you can decipher the joke.

If you want to check out and learn some methods for decoding secret messages, here’s an example from one of my classes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjKUFZ18-jo

If you want to learn a technique for converting base 10 numbers to binary code, you could also try this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cD6Bie_soU

Both videos were completed with excellent assistance from the wonderful students of Mr Evans’ 7C Digi Tech class during Term 2 (just before our current lockdown).
