Senior Boarding

Senior Girls

The return to boarding after the holidays was tinged with excitement and trepidation for the Year 12’s moving towards trial exams. Of course that has changed due to dates for the exams being changed. The girls have mixed feelings about the extra time: grateful for the extension to study but so ready to get on with life and their future. Study sessions have been set up and the use of the meeting room has been extended to year 12 girls so they have a silent space for completion of practice exam papers. The year 11’s often use the common room for collaborative study with year 11 boys.

There have been birthdays to celebrate and some of the girls have attained the magical 18th birthday. For others the milestones have included gaining their Ps for driving.

The corridors have been chilly so the temptation to curl up in bed has been huge but the invention of the ‘oodie’ has helped.

As of this term, the Year 10 group in both boys and girls has become part of the seniors as a transitional time. This prepares the year 10’s for next year within the boarding house and gives them the opportunity to become comfortable in the senior spaces.

Articles about study and sleep have been displayed in the common room and these have been starting points for conversation about well being both as senior students and study but also with the difficulties of these ‘Covid times’. The impact of what is happening in Sydney can not be dismissed when it relates to the HSC and the future.

Most importantly it has been fantastic to now have the opportunity to work with the senior girls in a full time capacity. I enjoy the chats and the connections that are being made every .

Senior Boys

Welcome to Term 3 to all students and staff. With the weather turning colder, the students are going into “hibernation” and studying hard. Term 3  is an important term for both Year 12 and Year 11 students - Trial HSC exams  for Year 12 and the Year 11 exams.

Good luck to all students in these exams.
