SSV Trials

Recently we have had a number of students represent Beaumaris North at the SSV sport trials in Football, Cricket and Basketball. Flynn J and Kieran M both attended the Basketball trials out at Springers. Of the 60 students who attended, 20 were lucky enough to be selected into the next round, which included both of our boys.

Krish T attended the Cricket trials also out in Springvale. Of the 50 attendees 10 were selected to go into the next round, with Krish impressing which lead to him being one of the 10 advancing.

Liam B Liam H and Charlie C attended the Football trials out in Carrum and competed in some round robin style games, with a large number of students participating. All of the boys contributed to their respective teams, with the two Liam’s making it through to the next round with Charlie gaining valuable experience for next year’s trials.

On Friday the 29th of April years 3-6 ventured down to Balcombe Reserve for the school cross country carnival. The Year 3 and 4 students were to complete the 2k course while the 5’s and 6’s slightly further, running 3k.

The overall effort from everyone involved was outstanding and we had some terrific performances, with the first 12 students from each race going to the District Carnival, which will be held this week at Dendy Park in Brighton.

The support was great all day, with Morey house claiming the House Spirit award due to their persistent cheering and chanting. The support was also assisted with the attendance of many parents, which was lovely to see.

It was an extremely tight competition overall, with their being just 6 points separating first second and third, with McDonald the victors. Total scores were:

McDonald – 130

Reserve – 127

Wood – 124

Morey – 61

Congratulations to everyone involved and good luck to all that have progressed to Districts.
