Welcome back from what I hope was a restful and re-energising Easter and Term break and a return to what seems more and more like the 'old' normal of school. Moving forward, this term will provide many more opportunities for our class to experience much of what was missing in the last few years - Interschool Sports, Athletics, and excursions to name but a few.
This week, our Year 5 students had the pleasure of a day at John Paul College to have a taste of what secondary school offers. They all came away with a positive attitude and interest in what is to come in the next few years.
A reminder for our Year 6 students that we need your Year 7 intentions form to be returned by Friday, May 6th.
To begin the term we have been learning all about formal and informal units of measurement. The students have engaged in a range of hands on activities where they have used various tools to precisely measure objects, comparing the amount of 'space' something takes up (area) and the length of the outside of a shape (perimeter). They have also begun working on a project where they have to design a new school playground where they explored area, perimeter and are required to stuck to a budget.
As preparation for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments, our class have been working towards planning and competing a writing piece in a short time frame. Here are some examples of interesting writing...
