Year 11 Psychology

In Unit 2 Psychology, we are investigating the topic of Sensation and Perception, and as a part of this topic we explore how the structures of the eye allow us to receive incoming light and allows us to see the world around us. As a way of consolidating our understanding of the structure of the eye we created an eye out of lollies.

'This was a hands on and visual interpretation of how the eye looks, which made it easier to comprehend the way the eye works' -Indi Fraser.

Work Experience at the University of Technology Sydney

In the last week of the April school holidays, I flew to Sydney to complete my work experience at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where I got to experience what it is like to pursue a higher level of education. For the week in which I was up there I got see the Super lab, Data Arena, do a dry ice experiment and make nylon, to name a few things. The thing I enjoyed the most was going around the research labs in each area of science and asking/observing what type of research was being done and in what ways it will further develop the world of science. It was also interesting seeing how passionate everyone was in what they were doing and how they strived to help the students at the university to reach their potential though mentoring or helping set up equipment for lessons.

Everyone who worked at the university worked together like a well-oiled machine. I recommend anyone wanting to get a feel of Uni life to apply, as it most definitely gave me an insight into what my future might be like and it expanded my horizons into the world of science.

Hayley Geisler, Year 10

Year 10 and Year 11 Focus Day

On Monday 7th May, our students had the chance to  reflect on their work habits to determine if they are Optimal, Cruising, Growth or Must Change students. They then identified traits that they can adopt to move into Growth or Optimal range to ensure maximum growth and achievement. The day also covered exam preparation and looking after yourself.

Multicultural Day

On Tuesday 15th May, the Year 12's held a Multicultural Day.  On offer were an array of  foods from various cultures, as well as henna designs, which were a huge hit!

Well done to the Year 12 cohort on organising such a fabulous event!
