Cobram Barooga RSL Writing Competition
Congratulations to Year 10 student, Ruby Sproules, who won first place in the 2018 Cobram Barooga RSL Writing Competition. This year's topic was focused on women in war. Ruby's essay celebrated her grandmother's first cousin, Lorna Whyte, who was a nurse in World War Two. It tells of her experience as a prisoner of war of the Japanese. We are so proud your achievement, Ruby!

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Liam Hindle who was awarded the People’s Choice Award for his photograph ‘The Canola Field at Sunset’ in the Pic Of The Crop photography competition in Wangaratta.
Liam was one of 70 entries and won $100.

Scarlett Grinter-The Australian Scout Medallion

Rural Youth Ambassador- Ellie Jones
Saturday 5th May saw Year 11 student, Ellie Jones in her role as a Rural Youth Ambassador, attend the Victorian State National Party Conference to share her views on the issues facing education of rural youth. She met with Peter Walsh, Victorian National leader and Steph Ryan, deputy leader.
As a result of Ellie's involvement in the Rural Youth Ambassador Program she has been nominated to sit on the Department of Education and Training's Education State Student Advisory Group (ESSAG). The ESSAG is a program initiated by the Department of Education and Training, in recognition of the need to place a greater focus on student voice and agency in order to better understand the learning needs of students in the 21st century. Through Ellie's involvement in in the ESSAG, she will have the opportunity to speak to senior Department leaders about her school experience and, through this discussion, play a role in shaping the future of education in Victoria.
ESSAG is made up of approximately 30 students from all over Victoria and just 4 rural students. Well done, Ellie!
Winton Motor Raceway Super Car School Banner Competition
Students in Visual Communication classes designed their very own race car as part of the Winton competition. The winning design was a landslide victory with 70 votes. Congratulations goes to Liam Hindle for his achievement.
We would like to thank all members of the Cobram Secondary College community who got behind all of our students' wonderful designs through their show of support in casting votes.
Liam will receive:
* His winning design painted on a 1.6m banner that will be displayed at the Supercar race at Winton between May 18-20, competing against other schools
* Go to Winton to see his work on display
