Staff Goodbyes

We have two staff leaving our school at the end of this year. Both have made a great impression on our school community in the twelve months they have been with us.

To Lauren who has shared our Year One class this year with Ann, thank you for your diligence, passion and gentle ways with your students this year. You and Ann have been a great combination and have given your students a year of very productive learning, compassionate well being when required, and a sense of each being a very important part of your class. I know your students have loved your teaching and you will be missed. I sincerely hope to see you back at Sacred Heart soon.

In 2023 Erin commences her teaching career with a position at St Mary's College for the deaf in Dandenong. This is an exciting opportunity for Erin as she utilises all her skills and knowledge gained these past years with her own group of students. Thank you so much Erin for all your work this year. You have had a great influence on our school through your introduction of Auslan to our students.

Thank you Dani

I would like to thank our former parent Dani, who has managed our school uniform shop on a voluntary basis these past seven years. Our uniform shop provides an invaluable service allowing parents and guardians to purchase school uniform items conveniently and at reasonable prices. The uniform shop also provides very valuable income for our school. Dani, I am so grateful for all your work volunteering so much of your time so that this service to our school community could continue. This year in particular, with both Andrew and David at secondary school, your time spent in our school is so appreciated.

As visitors to the uniform shop in the second half of the year will have noticed, Dani has been passing on her wisdom and knowledge about all things uniform shop to Cettina, who is taking on the role next year. I would like to acknowledge Cettina's ready willingness to take on this voluntary role and express my gratitude. Thank you so much Cettina.

Exciting Times for more of our Year Prep 2023 Students

Santa Visits Year Prep

In his incredibly hectic schedule, Santa found time to surprise our Year Preps with a visit yesterday. As you can imagine, our students were so happy and excited to see Santa and receive a present. Our students had many questions for Santa, "How do you know all our names? (Billie)", "Where have you parked your reindeers? (Connor)" and "Do your reindeers eat their carrots? (Lance)"

The Sacrament of Baptism

At 10.30 Mass this Sunday, we have a very special event happening to three of our Year Three/Four students.

Allie, Harper and Isabella are going to be Baptised into the Catholic Church during Mass. As you can imagine, this is a significant event for these three girls, their families and our Year Three/Four class who have been a great support and source of inspiration.

Most people are Baptised as babies, with their parents making the decision for them to become part of the Christian family. These girls have made the decision themselves after a period being educated in a Catholic School, admiring their peer’s values and with the love of their great parents.

We have invited all students in the girl’s Year Three/Four class to this very special event on Sunday. All other families within our school community are warmly invited as well. Mass will commence at 10.30am and as explained the girls will be Baptised during this celebration of the Eucharist.

School Captains 2023 Election

In a busy day yesterday, our Year Six students who applied for a position of school captaincy in 2023 hit the campaign trial with their speeches. Our candidates presented their speeches to the students in Years Two/Three and Four. Voting commenced yesterday and will continue today. It promises to be a very close outcome. A big congratulations to these seven students who are prepared to accept the responsibility of school captaincy in 2023.

Our first day back for all students in 2023 will be Monday 30th January.

Yours Sincerely

Mark Tierney

Principal

Year Prep/One Christmas Adventures

Last week the Year Prep and One students visited Spectrum in Preston, to sing to a group of elderly people in our community. The students sang four Christmas songs, and the group at Spectrum sang an Italian song to all of us. We asked them some questions about how they celebrate Christmas including what special foods they eat. We made some special new friends and some of us even shared some hugs!! At the end we had a biscuit, and we were asked to return next year for other special days like Mothers’ Day.

On the way home we posted our letters to Santa at a post box on High Street. We hope Santa writes back to us. It was a fun day out!
