Bringing 2022 to a close

As of this morning our students have received 792 DARE posts on Compass.  That is 792 times that a teacher has recognised a student demonstrated our DARE values within the classroom and/or our community.  This is a testament to their commitment to our 2023 Headstart program over the past three weeks.  Students demonstrating our DARE values is an integral part of our Auburn community.  In addition, we have celebrated year level achievements through our 2022 DARE assemblies for Semester 2.  Congratulations to our students who have been recognised for displaying our values of Diversity, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence in their classes during Semester 2.  There have been over 800 DARE awards presented this semester, a testament to the positive behaviours within our community.  Every semester we can see the pride in our students as they listen attentively and reflect on their contributions to our school.

I would like to thank our 2022 Year Level Leaders:  Jacob Bevacqua (Year 7), Liam Brooks and Nola Cefai (Year 8), David Felbel (Year 9), Craig McPherson (Year 10), Luke Dellorso (Year 11) and Angelina Wong (Year 12).  Their commitment to strengthening our year level communities over the past year has been exceptional.  They have actively provided opportunities for our student to reflect on their growth while supporting them to overcome challenges they may have experienced.

We will be thinking of our 2022 Year 12 students on Monday when their VCE results are released.  Our school community is incredibly proud of your consistent efforts throughout the year and wish you the best in your next journey. Thank you for being amazing role models for the rest of our school community.

Our attendance has been stable throughout Headstart and we thank families for communicating with us through Compass.  Please continue to do this next week as we close up the year.  Our staff will return on Friday 27th of January and will continue their 2023 planning.

Looking forward

Our 2023 Engagement Team spent Wednesday planning for their year level communities.  In a protected planning day facilitated by Acting Leading Teacher, Pauline Delhostal (Student Engagement, Voice and Agency), our Year Level Leaders unpacked their year level statements and Auburn Learner Qualities.  These were used to design programs for 2023 that provide opportunities for student growth in both academic, social and wellbeing.  Our Year Level Leaders actively used attendance, learning behaviour and data from our Pivot student voice surveys as a way to ground their planning in evidence.  We thank them for their dedication to our 2023 planning and are excited for our students to experience it all next year.

We look forward to welcoming our 2023 Year 7 students on Tuesday for Orientation Day.  They will meet their form group as well as some of their teachers through some engaging (and surprise!) activities.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy break.  See you all next year!
