Grade 6 student report on the Feathertop Chalet Harrietville Camp

On Tuesday the 29th November, the Grade Sixes got to school at 7:45am. We walked onto the bus and left at 8:00am. The bus drove to Bright where we had a break and played on the playground.  We went back onto the bus and got to Harrietville by about 10:00 am.

We found out where our cabin was and who was in it. We put our bags in and walked back outside. The camp instructor told us our groups and what we were doing. The activities were Archery, Initiatives, the Giant Swing, the Goanna Tree Climb and the High Ropes Course. After our first activity we had lunch and a play  with the Grade Fives. It was nice to see them. The grade fives left to go back home.

After lunch we had our second activity. Then we had afternoon tea. It was muffins and fruit. Then we had our third activity. After that activity we didn’t have any more for the day. Throughout the activities we got to hang out with two dogs, Jack and Hobbs.

We got some free time before we had dinner. We could play Tennis, Basketball, Minigolf, Volleyball or Soccer. For dinner we had Pasta, with salad and garlic bread. Dessert was a brownie with cream and melted chocolate.

After dinner we had time to have a shower or more free time. Afterwards we went to the hall. We had time to practice for our Grade Six dance. We then performed in front of everyone to show what we had so far. Afterwards, we watched a mini Christmas movie called Ice Age. We then got ready for bed. While we were getting ready the fire alarm went off because of deodorant being sprayed. So we assembled at the basketball and tennis courts. We had a quick chat about the situation and then went back to our cabins.  We went to sleep and Mrs Boak stayed up all night supervising.

Most of the cabins woke up at around 6:00 in the morning. We changed and had more free time. Then we had breakfast. For breakfast we had different types of cereals, yogurt, toast and peaches. We had our fourth activity and then morning tea. Next was our final activity. Then we had lunch which was a wrap with ham, cheese, lettuce and carrot. Then we had our last bit of free time and took off for home on the bus.

The drive was only an hour and a half and we got to school at 2:52. We all went home.

It was a fantastic experience and we thank all the teachers and camp staff who looked after us.

The End.
