Principal's Report

Welcome Back

It is so nice to be back at school after the holiday break and to see so many of our students engaged with their work and reconnecting with each other.

We have an exciting Term ahead and it is so nice to have so many families on site today for our Welcome BBQ (even though it is a bit chilly). This Term we have our 5/6 camp, the Year 1 students are going on an excursion to the zoo, the Mother's Day Stall, Open Night, Book Fair, Japanese Day and many other events.

We will keep you updated as the events come up and we are so happy to have families being able to come on-site and be a part of our school community for these events.

Behaviour Management Plan

Throughout the first term, we had a working party consisting of staff members from across the school developing an updated Kalinda PS Behaviour Management Plan. This plan aims to provide a clear and consistent approach to managing the behaviours of all students at Kalinda.

We are in the final stages of the plan's development and we will be sharing it with the school community next week. Please keep an eye out for communication via COMPASS that will share this plan with you.

School Council

Our School Council page on our website has been updated. It provides information about the purpose and operation of School Council, provides details about the sub-committees and lists the current members of School Council. Please see the link below to the page:

Education and Policy Sub-committee

The Education and Policy Sub-committee will hold its first meeting next week. In our first meeting we will be reviewing our school's Child Safety Policy (as part of a scheduled review of policies) and be discussing the issue of online bullying.

Online bullying is a challenging issue for all people in society (not just young people) and we want to work together with families to reduce the impact of online bullying on the safety and wellbeing of the students at Kalinda. Whilst we cannot monitor and manage the behaviour of students when they are at home, we are keen to work with the families in our school community and with our students to address these issues.

We will be meeting next Wednesday 28th April at 2:30-3:30pm. We will meet at school and also provide an opportunity for members of the school community to join remotely if they can't make it on-site.

If you are interested in joining the Education and Policy Sub-committee and attending the meeting, please email me shaun.mcclare@education.vic.gov.au by Monday 26th February.

Road Safety around the school

Please see the attachment below regarding traffic and pedestrian safety around schools. Please remember to always be driving very slowly when dropping off and collecting your children and all pedestrians should be careful around the roads and parked cars.

Please support Ringwood RSL. Badges are for sale at the office or through QKR.

2022 Enrolments

Enrolments are now open for 2022 and it would be great to start receiving your enrolment forms for students beginning in Foundation (or at other levels next year). The sooner we receive enrolments, the sooner we can begin planning for next year. Please find the enrolment form below and it can be sent to the school via post (Kalinda Primary School, 39-49 Kalinda Rd, Ringwood 3134) or by email to kalinda.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au
