Co-curricular - Junior Sport

This Saturday 15 May, the Junior School will be involved in Supporters’ Day. The day centres around support for the 1st XI Football and the 1st XV Rugby sides. Boys are encouraged to cheer and barrack for the College teams to help them strive for victory. All Junior School students should be well versed in the College war cry as well as the College Anthem (found on page 19 of the school diary). This is a day full of passion and heart however we must remember to be respectful to our opposition. The Rugby sides will be playing Trinity Grammar School, while in the Football, St Pius X College will be our opposition. Boys are to wear either their full College winter uniform or full College tracksuit, supporter’s shirt (black polo) and crested black shorts on the day. At the conclusion of the day at 4:50pm, boys will have their name marked off and be dismissed from their supporter’s role.

Parents are welcome to attend and support the College teams as well (we ask that parents not sit with the supporting group). As there is a large cohort of supporters, the Junior School will share the day with Year 7. This is a compulsory day for the boys; as such any absence must be explained with a doctor’s certificate and an alternate day will be sorted for the boys to fulfill their supporter’s commitment.

With Round 3 of winter sport now behind us, please remember that there may be some changes made to Junior School teams. This is consistent with the extension of the trial period over the first three rounds of the season outlined in previous Especean articles. It has been great to have had the opportunity to see a few of the fixtures in the last two weeks. I have been impressed by the commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by our boys. A reminder that all students attending games as a spectator (either due to injury or supporting brothers) should be wearing either full College winter uniform or be wearing the supporter’s uniform. If you are playing your own game later in the day or have just come off the field, then your College playing uniform is acceptable.

Good luck to all teams competing this weekend. Let us start our supporters’ weekend with a strong representation on the field to help spur on our Senior School brethren.
