Presentation Ball

Year 11 & 12

We did it!

We could not be prouder of the 57 students who participated in the 2021 Presentation Ball, 23 from Year 11 and 34 from Year 12.

After 2020 threw that massive curve ball that halted our preparations two weeks shy of the main event, then the circuit breaker this year stealing a precious practice, there were some seriously concerned adults and students prior to this year's event.

In 2020 we scoured the Operations Guides when they came out to see if we could run the event, even considering a drive in style event on the oval with the big screen on in the goal posts, keeping families sequestered safely in their cars, the toilets stopped us there.

So we postponed.  Then the Year 11's of this year did not meet the minimum criteria of 25 participants, so the decision to combine the two levels was made.  Originally planned to run over two nights, we had to scale back to 1 to accommodate the live streaming of the event.  We were ready for anything threw at us this time.  Students were warned that we could be sitting in the gym with no family present, just the staff - family could watch from home if it came to that.

Embarking on a mere 6 week course of action, pulling together to get the event off the ground,  Mark and Helen Baker worked their usual wonders, and with only 6 practices the Year 11's - well supported by the 12's - managed to dance like they'd been at it for the regulation 9 weeks on the night.

This year was a little different.  Not only was there an air of gratitude for the normalcy of attending a school event (even if capacity rating in the gym meant only 4 people per family could attend), the kids did something out of the box.  When faced with a potential show stopping moment, they took it in their stride and carried on - so well, that some staff who have been at quite a few rehearsals didn't even notice there had been an issue.

For our first ever live streamed event at Baimbridge, we couldn't have been prouder of the Presentees and want to thank them for their efforts, the fun, the frustration and the sense of accomplishment you delivered.
