From the Principal cont...

Linda Jones

We invite parents to continue to see our school leaders and teachers as approachable and willing to listen to all concerns and contributions.  A good relationship between parents and teachers remains as vital as ever in best meeting the needs of the children.

The last day of term 1 is this Thursday 1st April. There will be an assembly at 9am on this day where our Easter Raffle will be drawn. Unfortunately, we are still unable to invite parents to come along and watch the assembly as we continue to be governed by density limits. The children finish school at 2.30pm; they will be dismissed from their classrooms. Please note that term 2 commences on Monday 19th April. Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday – Looking forward to seeing everyone well rested from the holiday break.

OUR MORNING ROUTINE

If Victoria stays free of Coronavirus, then I believe the Department of Education will update our Operational Guidelines allowing parents more freedoms at school and we very much look forward to this.

I would like to thank parents and carers for their support and understanding this term. Our school days are returning to normal with much to be proud of. For our students, our school days have nearly returned to pre covid times and we do look forward to the time when we can open our doors more fully for families with restrictions lifted allowing parents/carers opportunities to attend more events.

Saying this, we will be maintaining the routine of students arriving and directly entering classrooms in the morning. From a school perspective this routine has been extremely well received by teachers. It allows for our students to independently come into their classrooms, organise their belongings, meet their friends and prepare for the day ahead with our first learning block commencing punctually at 9am.

ARE YOU LEAVING CARNEGIE PS?

Just a reminder that if any families are planning on  leaving CPS to go to another school, please let the office know so we can finalise our records.

STAFFING NEWS

  • We said farewell to Sarah Lockett last week as she leaves to commence maternity leave and awaits the safe arrival of a new little bub. We wish Sarah, Andrew and Millie all the very best as their family grows.
  • We welcome Ms Ingrid Jones as she steps into our 0.4 Music role for the remainder of the term as a CRT with the position currently advertised for the remainder of the year. It’s terrific to have Ingrid back to ensure consistency and a quality program for our students.
  • We also welcomed Mrs Natalie Jones to our Year 2 team teaching with Mrs Amy Travers as Ms Cate Allan has requested leave for the remainder of the year. Natalie is currently on short term contract with this position being advertised for the remainder of the year. Natalie is well known to both staff and students. We do hope to see Cate returning to CPS next year.

SCHOOL EXPO/OPEN MORNING

We encourage prospective families to join us on this occasion. We are excited to share many of the fine aspects of our school. Further details will be shared when we return next term.
