VCE & Careers Expo

Last Friday our Year 12 students visited the VCE & Careers Expo at the Caulfield Racecourse. Students attended several seminars and were able to talk with representatives from the various Universities, TAFE Colleges, Independent Colleges and professional bodies present. Of course all of our students collected numerous recourses and course guides for the 2022 selection cycle. And now, the applications begin!

  • VTAC applications will OPEN on Monday 2nd August.
  • VTAC applications CLOSE on Thursday 30th September.

More information will follow in term 3 for all Year 12 students.

 

Victorian Careers Show 2021Saturday 15 May, 9.00am-3.00pm at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale.

Students and families are encouraged to attend the Victorian Careers Show event which will have several institutions showcasing their courses.  The event will also include:

REMINDER: University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) 

Year 12 students intending to study certain medical, dental, and clinical science degree programs are reminded that they may need to sit the UCAT, and applications close on Monday 17 May 2021.  The testing dates will be from 1 July 2021 to 11 August 2021.Find out more and register at UCAT.

 

The UCAT ANZ office has provided the following information:

 

Students who are planning to apply to Medicine, Dentistry and Clinical Science degree programmes commencing in 2022 at these Universities in Australia and New Zealand must sit the UCAT ANZ 2021 (between 1 July and 11 August 2021).

 

The UCAT ANZ is a 2-hour, computer-based test, multiple choice test. Candidates sit the test at Pearson VUE test centres located in Australia, New Zealand and at some overseas centres. For information about where test centres are offered, see Test Centre Locations.

 

EligibilityThe UCAT ANZ test is only available to a candidate whose educational level at the time of sitting the test is that they are undertaking or have completed the final year of secondary schooling, or higher. For example, candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2021 should have completed, or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling in 2021, that is, Year 12 in Australia or Year 13 in New Zealand.

 

Students in Australian Year 11 or lower are NOT eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ.

This includes Year 11 students undertaking one or more Year 12 subjects. Year 12 students completing Year 12 over two years are only eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ in their final year.

 

Only a limited number of UCAT ANZ Consortium universities require international students to sit UCAT ANZ and if so, it will only be required in specific circumstances. Candidates are advised to check the UCAT ANZ Consortium university websites for further information.

Where do students book? Bookings are open at the UCAT ANZ website and will close on 17 May 2021 at 11:59pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Late registrations are accepted until 31 May at 11:59pm AEST and incur an additional late fee. No bookings are accepted after the late booking deadline.

Bachelor of Design Arts (Interior Design)2-year course where students develop their conceptual, theoretical and technical knowledge required to excel in a career where place and people meet, in a diverse range of private, public, residential and commercial environments. The course explores the varied facets of interior design, from designing spaces with a view to specific industries, such as display suites for residential design, to catering to specific demographics, such as modifying spaces to accommodate special user needs.
Bachelor of Design Arts (Visual Arts)2-year course offering a studio-based environment for Visual Arts Majors, where students ultimately have their own onsite exhibition and workspace.  With a public gallery to showcase their work, a choice of sub-majors to complement their artistic aspirations and real-world industry placements, students will be ready for a wide range of future professional opportunities based in the art world.

Career as an Epidemiologist An epidemiologist studies how disease is distributed through the community, as well as the causes and initial location of these diseases. This information is used to evaluate, plan, manage, control, and prevent the spread of disease.  An epidemiologist is an influencer and often has a public voice in working towards controlling and preventing disease, working closely with public health departments.
