We want our Parents/Caregivers/Guardians to tell us what they think!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.
Please see the link on the Compass Parent Portal to complete the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.
Year 4/5/6 Excursion
On Thursday, September 8th the Year 4/5/6 students will be travelling to the Arts Centre to attend the performance of ‘Yong’ put on by the Monkey Baa Theatre Company.
The story is based on the book by Janeen Brian.
It is a brand-new work about family, honour and the risks taken in search of a better life.
Set against the backdrop of the Australian Goldrush of 1857, Yong is a new Australian play by Jenevieve Chang. Mixing historical fact and narrative fiction, Yong takes us on a journey across land and sea, from China to the goldfields of Australia.
Please keep an eye out for the permission note that will go up on Compass for this excursion in the coming weeks. The cost of the performance is $14 per student for those families who have not paid the excursion levy. This cost includes the performance and bus.
Book Week
It is that time of year again…BOOK WEEK! This year’s theme is Dreaming With Eyes Open. Our library is fully decorated, and this year’s shortlisted books have been purchased.
We are excited that a Primary Book Parade has the all clear to go ahead tomorrow, Friday 26th August. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up to match the theme or as their favourite book character. While we encourage students to dress up, we are also well aware that this can be a challenge so simple characters who wear casual clothes is always a winner. For example Diary of A Wimpy Kid, Billie B. Brown, Hey Jack, Zac Powers.
The parade will be held in the college gym at 9.10. All families are welcome to head over to the gym while the students start the day in their Home Groups. Afterwards, each unit have organised some interesting activities to help promote and celebrate wonderful Australian Books.
