LOTE
We had such a busy last couple of weeks in the Language Room.
Level 1/2 Students learnt one of the four greatest inventions from Chinese people – Paper Making. Students know the history of paper making, and they understand what materials to use and with steps involved in paper making. Every student also participated in a hands-on learning experience – making papers themselves.
We also celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival (中(zhōng) 秋(qiū) 节(jié)) by making the Mooncakes (月(yuè) 饼(bing)) together. Mid-Autumn Festival is a special day in China in autumn. It's on 15th day of 8th months of the Luna calendar in China. That day is always in September or near the start of October. On that day, the moon is full and bright.
Mid-Autumn Festival is an important old festival in China. It is for people to enjoy a happy family time. It is like Christmas. Mothers cook nice food and the people in China enjoy a happy family dinner. For people in China the full moon means family time. If they cannot go home, they look at the moon. They know their family are looking at the moon too.
Mooncake is the most important food at Mid-Autumn Festival. It is round like a full moon. So, the festival also called Mooncake Festival. Mooncake is as important as Ham at Christmas.
We wish all Hampton Primary Community a very happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

MUSIC
Congratulations to the school band on their assembly performance on Friday. They impressed us with the anthem as Year 1C sang then followed up with Twist and Shout and Happy which got everyone clapping along! Well done to the band and their band conductor Paul Winter!
Here’s the footage:
Last week I had the privilege of representing HPS at the Bayside City Council RUOK day cocktail party at the Hampton Community Centre. I was fortunate to chat with the Mayor Alex del Porto and MP James Newbury at the function dropping some hints about wanting our new building!!
TRIX ON STIX
The DVD is amazing but…… The man did not run a microphone to the stage as the Kingston Arts tech people told him it was a circus and didn’t have singing! So we hear the song but not the students singing along! It’s disappointing but the footage of the show is OUTSTANDING so I encourage you to purchase a copy!
