Literacy

INITIALIT

We have worked our way through all the Foundation concepts in the InitiaLit program. Therefore, this term the children will be part of mixed class groups that target their next stage of learning or areas that require revision. These groups may be with their own classroom teacher, or one of the other Foundation teachers. 

Term 4 focus includes:

Reading

• Decoding skills
• ‘Tricky’ (common) words
• Comprehension 
• Elements of a fiction story (character, setting, problem, solution)

Writing

• Recount
• Narrative
• Seed Book Writing - free choice writing time
• Vocabulary and sentence structure 
• Letter formation and handwriting

Spelling

• Words that contain the sounds already taught 
• Tricky words 
• Segmenting/Blending 
• Rhyme
