MULTICULTURAL COMMITTEE NEWS

A Multicultural Committee meeting was held on Monday 25 July at lunchtime with tasty refreshments on offer.

Already Term Three is moving fast with a lots of events on the go at the school, but one of the biggest events will be the Multicultural Festival.

After a two year break our biggest cultural event celebrating North Geelong Secondary Colleges diversity will be back. It will be held on Friday 21 October 2022, with the theme ‘Woven Together’. This term the Committee is focusing on formulating ideas for NGSCs much loved grand celebration.

We are in search of innovative ideas related to the theme ‘Woven Together’:

Cultural presenters

  • Speakers
  • Musicians
  • Dancers
  • Performers
  • Cultural food demonstrations
  • Story tellers

Any ideas, no matter how big or small are all welcome. Feel free to attend our next meeting on Monday 29 August at 12:45 pm or contact us at the school with any ideas.  The Multicultural Committee values any input from the  NGSC school community.

The School Breakfast Clubs Program - Cooking Classes

The School Breakfast Clubs Program - Cooking Classes would like to say a big thank you for welcoming Foodbank Victoria to North Geelong Secondary College over the past 4 weeks! It was such a delight to deliver our Cooking Classes program within your school.

Emma, Kathy and I had such a wonderful time getting to know the families and being part of the positive experiences shared between participants. We hope your school community continues to enjoy the benefits of preparing and eating fresh, healthy meals beyond the program.

Thank you for your hard work in recruiting the families and helping us to deliver the program successfully.

Attached is a Cooking Classes flyer, which includes photographs and highlights from the program.

LOTE Corner

On Tuesday 26 July Ms Castle, Japanese Teacher, and Mrs Kana Moroney, Japanese Language Assistant, hosted our inaugural Japanese Club lunchtime club. Students met and were able to practise Japanese and learn how to make Japanese cranes. The enthusiasm of the students was fantastic and it was great to see people interested in the Japanese culture and language learning.
