Armidale visit
Tuesday - Cluster Day: NECOM, NERAM & Armidale Cultural Centre & Keeping Place
Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to be invited to a Cluster day with the other schools in the Thunderbolt's Alliance to enjoy some artmaking activities at NERAM, a lunch, some Indigenous games and a gallery tour. We also attended a song practice for New England Sings at NECOM with the other schools. An awesome day all round and we were delighted to hear positive feedback from staff at the venues we visited about how delightful our Kentucky kids were!
Thursday - NAIDOC Week excursion: Armidale Cultural Centre & Keeping Place (followed by NECOM New England Sings Rehearsal)
On Thursday, Mrs Chaffey and Miss Patterson took the school to ACCKP in Armidale for an art workshop where we painted boomerangs and rocks, then moved onto a dance workshop where we were painted with ochre and taught traditional dances about Emus, Willy Wagtails and digging for Pipis. We stayed there for lunch and had a fantastic time playing tips on the grass.
We then moved to NECOM where we had a rehearsal of our New England Sings songs with Fergus James and the ASC singers. Such a good display of talent for us to aspire to!
Again, the kids need to be commended for their awesome behaviour and positivity on the day. Mrs Chaffey and I are just so proud to take Kentucky on excursions when they display such responsible behaviour.
A huge thank you to the P & C for funding the excursion to the ACCKP and to Brett Wilkinson for driving the bus
