Sprout Squad

My story of cementing my love and respect for nature is that, once I had the opportunity to join the Lord Mayor Youth Environmental Leadership Network and Sprout Squad, I grabbed that opportunity to learn more about what is impacting nature. Since I started this year in these groups. I have grown so much in my knowledge of how I can help save the environment, and it started with being involved. Mount Alvernia College is a great community that allows you to have so many opportunities to grow as a person and, for me, joining these groups has made me a lot more aware and observant of my life, and has made me happier.

I feel like being a part of all of this makes me feel accomplished, and you can too by supporting National Tree Day by planting trees and plants in your home.

National Tree Day is a call to action for Australians to unite and give back to the community and the land which they love. This is an opportunity to head outdoors with friends and actively learn about the environment while saving it. Mount Alvernia has had the pleasure to receive 50 free trees from the government to plant. Sprout Squad and other Mount Alvernia students came together on 12 August to celebrate School Plant a Tree Day, and planted a large quantity of trees in the gardens around the outdoor gym. There were lots of smiling faces and teamwork across year levels. Through constant watering, sunlight, and care, these plants will grow to become healthy trees which will look wonderful in our gardens.
