News from Preps & Year 1

PREP

Recently the Preps celebrated their 100th day at school, this was marked by a 100-year-old dress up parade and fun 100 themed activities. We made a necklace of 100 fruit-loops! We worked conscientiously to make our own crowns and celebrate with all the friends we have made in Prep.

Here is to all the future days of learning, as life-long learners!

YEAR 1

In Year 1C this week students investigated how to change materials. They made predictions and carefully recorded their results. Students focused on bending, twisting, and stretching. It was really fun!

In 1G, we have been learning about split strategy subtraction. The students practiced inside with unifix and whiteboards, before taking their learning outside with chalk.

In math’s we set up a class shop as our final activity on money for this term. Students made bookmarks to sell of varying prices and took turns to sell and buy the items. The each had a wallet with coins and were able to purchase from the lovely shopkeepers, but had to pay with Miss Walsh 1 W.

YEAR 1 FRENCH

In French in Year 1, we have been learning how to read La Chenille A Faim, which is the French version of the Hungry Caterpillar. We have been learning how to say “I’m hungry! I want to eat!” In French.
