Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

St. Joseph's continues to be just a special place to BE!  Our thanks to the parent group who organised the Trivia night. It was a wonderful night full of fun and positivity and a brilliant community building night. The hall looked amazing and the dress up theme added to the fun of the night. Money raised will go to the upgrade of the playground on the oval to a more natural playground. Thanks to Narelle, Beth, Belinda, Laura, Maureen, Megan, Nikita and all of our staff and community who assisted with this wonderful event.

Last week we saw so many examples of how we deepen our students' learning experience and enable our kids to shine and flourish in our care at St. Joseph’s school.

Our junior students participated  in the  Long Walk Indigenous excursion at Balnarring. The Bunjil nest project is such a wonderful connection for our students and community. Working with Balnarring Pre- school and other local schools and early learning centres is an example of how community works for the common good of all of the students in our area. Thank you to  Leah Hogg our Indigenous specialist and the Prep and Bunjil communities for all they are doing in this most important area of our curriculum as we strive to always  respect, recognise and celebrate our nation's first people.

It was such a privilege for our school to be chosen for a special visit from  Milly Formby. Milly visited our seniors on Thursday to share her journey of flying her light plane tracking migratory birds along the coast of Australia. Thanks to Lucy Kyriacou for all of her wonderful leadership in this area. The Sea is our Best Friend project cultivates students to be stewards of creation and responsible citizens enhancing and connecting learning in extraordinary ways.

There was also a continual buzz occuring around the school with the preparations of the upcoming school concert to be held at George Jenkins Theatre on Wednesday 9th November.

Providing a comprehensive  Performing Arts program is so important for our students allowing opportunities for creativity and personal expression. Even better that this is a student-led event with our senior students actively leading, designing and working collaboratively to lead the concert. This is not possible without amazing staff scaffolding, directing and supporting our students. A huge thanks to Sue Jackson,  Kate Huon and Ibu Ellen on the extra ordinary effort in preparing for this special event in our community.

On top of this we are also currently preparing for the upcoming senior camp along with our continued focus on the teaching of essential literacy and numeracy skills and providing the highest of standards of positive behavior in our school.

This week is Children's Week which is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

The 2022 theme is "All Children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development", drawn from Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The environment we create together provides our students with a strong message that each child is important and that we believe every student in our school can achieve anything they set out to do.

By diversifying and providing rich and deep learning experiences for our students we ensure every student's area of strength is amplified and learning experiences are equitable and accessible resulting in all of our students shining and flourishing.

The MACS strategy 2030 is about Forming lives to enrich the world.

May we always work in partnership with you ensuring that every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich our world.

Please do not hesitate to contact me on principal@sjcribpoint.catholic.edu.au if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning or wellbeing. I continue to feel privileged and be extremely proud of all we achieve in our beautiful school.

Just a reminder that next Monday 31st October is a student free day and Tuesday 1st November is Melbourne Cup public holiday.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
