PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Welcome back to everyone for Term 4.  I hope that you were all able to have a relaxing break from the routine of school. Our Year 12 students begin this term knowing that the number of days that they need to attend classes is coming to an end. Next Tuesday, 18th of October, is the last day of classes for our Year 12s before they begin a week of study and then their final exams begin on Wednesday 26th October. I pray that all students in Year 12 and 11 that are preparing for these exams, do so with confidence that they have put in all the work needed over the past few years and that they will be rewarded by being satisfied that they have done their best.

On Monday 17th October, our Houses will gather to celebrate and farewell their Year 12 students.  After lunch the Year 12 students will enjoy time together, with a water fight, to continue the wonderful memories of their shared experiences at our school.

At 12:00 pm on Tuesday 18th October the whole school will celebrate our End of Year Mass in St Mary’s Church. Parents, guardians and  family members are invited to attend. Following the Mass Year 12 students, their parents and guardians and staff are invited to lunch in the Parish Function Centre, before moving into the Jubilee Centre at 2:15 pm for the final assembly of our Year 12 students. This is a very exciting and emotional time for our Year 12s and their families.  I look forward to celebrating with you all.

Schools are busy places as we endeavour to provide rich experiences for our students. Term 4 can be seen as a winding down time, however teachers and students continue to teach, learn and complete tasks until the final days of the term. While this is happening planning is underway for 2023. The House Leaders will begin to coordinate core group classes, Sally Op’t Hoog (Teaching & Learning Leader: Learning Diversity) and Damien Hirst (Transition Coordinator) are meeting with families to assist in the transition of new students to our school, Nathan Lane (Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning) and Sally Looney (Pathways Coordinator) are assisting students as they choose and confirm their subjects and Damian Howison (Timetabler) is coordinating grids, elective blocks and the timetable for 2023. It is an important period of communication, therefore I encourage parents to make contact with your relevant House Leader if you have any concerns for your child as we continue this planning process.

This week our Year 11 students had the opportunity to present a speech for a position of College Captain in 2023. The students spoke to the whole school at an assembly on Monday and then participated in an interview. The candidates all spoke exceptionally and equipped themselves well for consideration. The interview panel were impressed with the answers and suggestions made. It is an exciting time with the 2023 College Captains being announced at assembly on Friday. Keep an eye on our social media posts tomorrow.

I hope that you have all managed through the recent rain.
