Chess News

On Wednesday 14th September, eleven members of the Chess Club travelled to Castlemaine to compete in the Mt Alexander Chess Competition. We competed against schools from Ballarat, Werribee and the Castlemaine area. It was a very challenging and intense competition played over six rounds, with some nail-biting finishes.

We came home with a Trophy for Second Place in the Teams Competition and five of our players were awarded individual medals. Those players are: Rory Clarke (8 Jones), Elliot Hayward (11 Aherne), Xavier Ciancio (11 Aherne), Vivek Vattakatuchery (8 Riley), Jinuka Wickrama (11 Frew).

As a result of our performance, we have qualified to participate in the 2022 Victorian Secondary Schools Final in Melbourne on 10 October.

A great way to end of Term 3 for our small but very enthusiastic Chess Club.
