Millward House Dinner

They say that the best is saved 'til last, and in the case of the 2022 House Dinner, that idiom is certainly true. On Wednesday the 14th of September, Millward House came together to celebrate our most successful year in recent memory and the fun times we had along the way. For the first time in almost three years, the purple people arrived at the Bendigo Club looking forward to a night of glitz, glamour and grandeur - and they were not disappointed. The theme of the night was 'The Roaring Twenties', a theme best embodied by Mr Williams and his excellent Peaky Blinders-esque presentation.

The event was just as exciting for the Year Sevens, Eights and Nines who were exploring their first House Dinner as it was for the Year Twelves, who experienced a bittersweet farewell to the Millward tradition that they had waited so long to return to. Perhaps most of all, it was a significant moment for Ms Watanabe and Mr Williams, who had the excitement of their first Millward House Dinner in their current positions. They were joined by Dr O'Reilly, Ms Davis, Mr Crickmore, Junior school teachers, Mrs Bath and Mr Turner, as well as our former Head of House, Mrs Kerrie Stewart, for the night's celebrations.

They, as the rest of us, were entertained by individual and tutor acts, an annual highlight that we'd all missed a lot in 2020/21. As is tradition, our special guests from the junior school - our Year Six House Captains - were given the unenviable task of deciding a winner of these acts. The task was so difficult, in the end, that they split the award between Year 10 and Year 11. As Year 11s ourselves, we thought we had it in the bag, but obviously, it all came down to interpretation (wink, wink) and we ended up in good company with our equal first place - well done Year 10.

All in all, the 2022 Millward House Dinner was a great finish to a remarkable year. For us, as House Captains, this night was a chance for us to say thank you to all of the students and staff that helped us lead the house through all the challenges and stresses of the year's events - and it did not disappoint.

Millward Parents Dinner was held at the Kennington Tavern on the same night.  About 30 parents enjoyed the night out without their children!  Sincere thanks to Ms Kylie McDonald, the mother of Tom Marchant (9M), for organising the dinner.
