Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,
This Friday our school looks forward to our All Saints/ All Souls Day Mass here at school from 10:00am in the Multipurpose Room. Parents and friends are welcome to come along. This celebration has been an important day in our calendar for over twenty years and gives us the opportunity to remember our loved ones who have passed away. It has always been a beautiful moment to pause respectfully together and bring to mind, with love those whom we now miss.
MISSION FETE The children will enjoy recess after the Mass and will then participate in our Mission Fete between 11:30am and 1:00pm. Children are asked to bring some pocket money along to purchase treats (coins and small notes would be appreciated), enter competitions and enjoy lots of activities designed to raise money to support the work of Catholic Mission. Catholic Mission are the missionary arm of the Church and are renowned throughout the world for the charity work that they perform with the most needy and vulnerable people in Australia and beyond. The children rely on their parents for quite a bit of support for these stalls and activities and we are very grateful to those generous parents for their support. Once again we are delighted to invite parents and friends to join us between 11:30am and 1:00pm to enjoy the fete.
STAFFING CHANGES 2023 I am sad to say that a number of our teachers are leaving us at the end of 2022 to pursue new challenges such as Maddie Searle (Gr 1) who is off to London to teach, Lucy Moynihan(Gr 1) & Amanda Delorenzo (Gr 2) who are both having babies, Kayla Morgan (Music) who is doing further study and Aaron Walters who has accepted a position teaching at St Patrick’s in Geelong West.
While Kerry Eldridge is not taking on any more of these kinds of challenges - she is happily retiring after a fantastic career. (Her challenges might lie on the golf course etc).
While we are sorry to be losing such high quality teachers and such generous staff members we wish all of these teachers the very best for their new endeavours.
I am very pleased to announce that we have made a number of appointments to our teaching team for 2023 whom I feel confident will all bring new experience and enthusiasm to our school community.
Parents will recall that earlier this year I was able to announce that both Tom Rieniets and Shantelle Finn would be joining us in 2023. Additionally I have engaged
Jayden Tebble, Hayley Everitt and Laura Campigli to join our teaching team. Jayden has established an excellent reputation as a teacher in Werribee where he currently works and is looking to shift his young family back home to Colac. Hayley has been working at our school quite a bit as one of our most sought after “Emergency Teachers” after beginning her teaching career in Melbourne, while Laura is a graduate teacher who has impressed everyone she has worked with and our Interview Panel very much.
There will be opportunities later this year to thank those teachers leaving our community for their excellent care and service and I know all families will make sure our new teachers very much feel welcome into this amazing community.
SCHOOL CLOSURE A reminder that our school will be closed next Monday, October 31st for Reporting. This is the day before the Melbourne Cup public holiday and so will mean a 4 day weekend for the children.
