District Basketball – Friday 26th August

Our Year 5/6 Basketball teams ventured off to Keilor Park Stadium to compete in the Ascot Vale District Basketball Competition. Both teams started the day very well, having early wins and a draw in their opening games. They come up against the eventual finalists in their later games, losing some close games, but competing with spirit and determination across the day. We even had a last gasp basket in one of the games that got a mighty roar from those watching. Thank you to Eddie who supported us and to the parents who made the journey out to spectate! Well done to all students involved.

Divisional Athletics – Tuesday 6th September

On Tuesday 6th September, 7 students from NMPS competed at the Divisional Athletics, representing our school and the Ascot Vale District again other schools and Districts in the Moonee Ponds Division. The 7 students who competed were Lily, Felix, Xavier, Malia, Phong, Tim, and Phoebe.

The first race was Xavier’s 800m race, which is very hard. Xavier did super well and finished in 2nd place, which means he progresses to Regionals next term. Great job Xavier!!

Felix then competed in the Triple Jump event. He was competing against four other students and was very nervous and scared when it was his turn to jump, but he was very happy to learn that he finished in 3rd place.

The 200m was next up and Malia ran a superb race, finished second in her race, but just missed the Regionals. Nice job on a wonderful effort Malia!

Tim competed very well in his Long Jump event. He jumped a very good distance and finished in 4th place. The winner jumped over 4 metres!!

Phong competed very well in his Triple Jump event. He jumped a long way and was super proud of his effort.

The 100m race was run and won in a flash. Phoebe ran so fast that the race was over in seconds. She finished in 3rd place and was happy that she won a ribbon.

After cheering everyone all day, Lily ran in the 1500m event and was super proud of her efforts in finishing in 6th place overall.

It was a great day and we had a lot of fun cheering everyone on. We are very proud of everyone and look forward to hearing our Xavier goes at Regionals. Thank you to our parents for taking us and supporting us on the day!
