Principal's Message
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Well, this weather doesn't seem to be easing but let's hope we get rid of all the rain so that we have blue skies for our Fete on 11th November!
I draw your attention the the 3/4 Teaching and Learning page in this week's newsletter, detailing the fun gnocchi making activity held last week. As a school we are currently planning on extending this type of activity by piloting a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program in 2023. We will keep you posted early next year as to the progress of this program.
Congratulations to past student Marcellino (Miro) Baselyous on his recent appointment as 2023 College Captain at Salesian College. Marcellino is the fourth consecutive College Captain at Salesian who has also been a past student of Christ Our Holy Redeemer.
Fete Update
Thank you to the many parents who have added their names to the stall roster via the School Interviews Online website. While we have had a terrific overall response, we still have a few gaps. If you have an hour on the night of the Fete then your help would be greatly appreciated.
The event code to access the roster for each stall is z2knm
A reminder to all helpers that everyone helping is required to have a current Working With Children Check.
Casual Clothes Day and Bring a Bottle
On Monday 7th November children are invited to wear casual clothes to school. Instead of making a gold coin donation we are asking children to bring along a bottle for the Ring-a-Bottle Stall. This could be a;
- soft drink bottle
- sauce bottle
- cordial bottle
- juice bottle
We would ask that wine/alcoholic bottles are not donated for this stall.
The next Fete meeting will be held next Wednesday 2nd November at 7pm. It would be appreciated if all stall coordinators could attend this meeting. We will also arrange a Google Meet link.
Purchase your ride tickets
Ride wristbands can be pre-purchased before the fete. Information relating to this purchase is coming home via a flier today.
Flier Distribution
We have printed several hundred Fete fliers for distribution in the local community. We request the help of our families to deliver promotional fliers. If you are able to deliver some of these fliers then we request that you collect these from the school office. We also ask that you highlight (on the map in the foyer) the streets that you are able to deliver to.
Extra-Curricular Activities Survey
We received 48 responses from parents expressing interest in having their child participate in extra-curricular in 2023.
These results were discussed at the School Advisory Committee last night and from here we will approach a number of private tuition companies who may be willing to provide the services of interest to our families.
2023 Student Leadership
In 2023 we will be altering our Student Leadership to reflect the student number in the Year 6 cohort. Over the past couple of months staff have been discussing various options and roles for our student leaders and have agreed that the following student leadership positions will be offered in 2023;
2 x School Captains
2 x Faith Captains (including Social Justice & Wellbeing)
2 x Learning Leaders (including Arts, ICT, Literacy, Environment)
8 x House Captains
There will be 14 leaders in total.
In addition to these roles we will be looking to establish a Student Representative Council whereby more students can have input into the way we operate in our school, offer suggestions and take action.
Condolences
Our condolences to the Petrie Family on the passing of William and Oliver's grandfather (Laura's stepfather), who passed away recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
