Sporting Excellence Term 4
This term will see the continuation of the Trinity Sporting Excellence Program (TSEP) conducted by the Regional Institute of Sport.
We welcome students who have not previously participated to come along in Term 4 and experience the program.
The timeline for the program has been confirmed and will run for 8 weeks in Term 4 on Wednesday afternoons from 3.30pm to 4.30pm commencing Wednesday, 5 October.
The cost of this program for participants is $10 per session for the 8 weeks ($80 in total) and is non-refundable. Payment is to be made at College Reception or via bank transfer by Wednesday, 5 October (Account: Trinity College, Bank: National Australia Bank – Ballarat, BSB: 083-532, ACC No: 149837474, Reference students name and TSEP).
Why should high school-aged athletes participate in such a program?
The Trinity Sporting Excellence Program is an after school extra curricula program that is designed to improve youth physical development, especially for students moving along excellence or elite pathways in sport such as AFL, AFLW, Basketball, Netball, Soccer and more.
Young athletes need to develop more than just physical skills, they need to develop an understanding of the importance of recovery techniques, nutrition, hydration, growth mindset and the ability to be coachable so they can flourish in high performance environments.
The program is aimed at improving reaction time, agility, running technique, core strength for movement, injury reduction etc. It is not an additional training for a team sport.
The equipment we use in our program (provided by the school) are kettle bells, resistance bands, flexibility poles, running hurdles and ladders. They do not train with footballs, basketballs or netballs.
The Trinity Sporting Excellence Program is a unique opportunity for all students interested in being the best athlete they can be to work alongside coaches with a proven record for preparing young athletes to succeed in a variety of sports.
It fills in the performance gaps that sport-specific training misses, provides a platform for future high-performance programs, greatly reduces injury risk, and develops confidence in young athletes to follow pathways towards excellence.
