Monash Division Cross Country

On Thursday the 25th of May our Brentwood Cross Country Team competed at the Monash Division Cross Country event at Norton's Park. All of our local rivals were there; Wheelers Hill, Wellington, South Oakleigh and John Monash. Despite the cold and sometimes wet conditions our students competed will amazing enthusiasm and determination. All students who placed in the top 15 will now progress to the Eastern Metropolitan level, an incredible 41 students!

After a day of very close competition Brentwood was successful in taking home both the Junior Shield and Overall Shield! A phenomenal result and a testament to the ability and commitment of our runners.

We also had several outstanding individual results, including the following students who placed on the podium in their age groups:

  • Thomas Jackson - 1st
  • Michiko Versluis - 1st
  • Jordan Gilbert - 1st
  • Amani Tusevljak - 2nd
  • Boris Ilic - 2nd
  • Hayley Browne - 2nd
  • Maddison Modin - 2nd
  • Nayte Claffey - 3rd
  • Josh Clarke - 3rd
  • Zoe Jackson - 3rd
  • Kanta Nishimoto - 3rd

Congratulations to all runners who qualified for the next stage. I'm sure the whole Brentwood community is with me when I wish them the very best of luck for their competition on Tuesday the 13th!

A team: Tanmay Dayal, Arvind Indukuri, Benjamin Lee, Shreyaj Guha, Kanta Nishimoto, Adhyan Kathpal

B team: Shane Chelackal, Shaun Chelackal, Milind Harilal, Petar Ilic, Darren De-En Lu, Daniel Nazareno

Both teams played against John Monash Secondary School, Wellington Secondary College and South Oakleigh Secondary College

The B team dominated their counter parts at the event with the excellent guidance of Rohan Edirisuriya and despite some close calls, general coaching fronTng Hin Istvan Ng and a motivational speech from Hwani Shin, the A team won the event through team work and support of one another. Team A will be attending the Eastern Metropolitan Regionals finals on the 28th of July. Please cheer them on and let’s aim for states.
