Coaches: Harriet Kelly and Grace Campbell (Year 12 students)
In their words:
We have found the coaching experience very rewarding as we can pass our knowledge onto the players and help them develop a variety of skills. The cold mornings have been tough, but it’s worth it to see them love the game and beg to get back on the field.
Team: Alex Hill, Maddie Pritchard, Milla Brown, Lola Portlock (SMC) and Logan Menzie, Lucas Wickham and Finn Johnstone (SVC).
Coach: Joshua Weir
Words from Fi Rhodes:
Kate Jordan and I had the pleasure of watching this team play on the weekend. We have never been prouder watching a team play than we were of this team! What they might give away in size and experience, they more than made up with grit and determination. Every member of the team tried their hardest from the first whistle to the last and did so with a smile – a huge testament to how they are being coached!
Joshua has provided me with updates every week and it is clear this is how they play week in, week out – our four Rs certainly on display and representing St Mary’s College beautifully!
Well done to our players and thank you to Joshua for instilling a love of sport and values that will last them a lifetime!
In a later Fountain newsletter, we will feature the dynamic father/daughter duo of Heidi and Joshua Weir.
Team: Addison Eadie, Suvanni Raibhandari, Emily Oates, Harriet Ellston, Renni Woolnough, Heidi Weir (absent), Matilda Corke, Isabel Nichols, Charlotte Krautz.
Coach: Molly O'Reilly (Year 8)
Under Molly’s gentle guidance, this team are improving each week and what fun they are having. Netball is a hard game to learn but if smiles are any indication of how the team are going, they are travelling well. Perhaps we have some netball superstars in our midst!
An extra big thank you to Molly who accepted the role of coach at the very last minute (literally!) and stepped in without hesitation, showing incredible maturity, professionalism and great enthusiasm.
Team: Phoebe Kemp, Phoebe Webb, Sophie Oakes, Penny Dean (absent from photo), Amelia Everard, Emma Palmer, Grace O’Reilly, Sophie Veitch
Coach: Preetinder Khakh (Year 8)
In her words:
The 3/4 SMC Green netball team has taken off well. It’s great to see everyone playing with new players, meeting new people, and making new friends. We have been training and playing at various schools. Our team have started the roster nicely, winning their first few games. I enjoy coaching this team, they make it fun!
Team: Harriet Ellston, Emma Marshall (absent from photo), Sophie Johns (absent from photo), Madeleine Canning, Isla Sharp, Jessica Wong, Isabelle Godfrey and Jessica McCarthy.
Coaches: Bella Carter and Arabella Butterworth-Barry (Year 9)
Our 5/6 SMC water polo team are showing great enthusiasm and resilience in a mixed roster where they often compete against much bigger and physical opponents. This doesn’t sway our players from doing their best and having a go each week. Ably coached by Bella and Arabella, the team are showing great improvement each week which is indicative in the improving scorelines each game. Well done coaches and players.
Team: Annaliese Carter, Sophia Carter, Harriette Yeomans, Holly Prins, Ruby Brown, Ashley Price, Freja Richardson, Eloise Sherriff, Annabelle Pritchard, Henriette Butterworth-Barry (absent from photo), Stella Thristan.
