Southern SATIS Cross Country

The Southern SATIS Cross Country was held last Wednesday 24 May at Hobart's Queen Domain and St Mary's had some amazing individual, age group and team results.

A very big thank you to Captain Laura Smith (Year 12) who spent the day helping all the athletes get ready, running through the warmups and encouraging them along the course. Laura was a great ambassador for the College and displayed our Presentation values of Respect, Responsibility, Relationships and Resilience.

On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Rosie Arnold (Year 8) who celebrated her birthday on the day and went 'one pace beyond' to bake 60-plus cupcakes for her teammates. What a great snack to finish off a gruelling four-kilometre race!

Congratulations to the following athletes:

U15 Age Group winner: Alet Le Grange

U16 Age Group Winner: Jessica Smith

Thanks to the grit, determination and 'never-give-up' attitude demonstrated by every athlete, St Mary's College also walked away with the Girls' Aggregate Shield, which means we finished first in the Year 7-12 Girls' category. And to think, we came second in the Girls' Junior Shield by only two points!

This is the first time in the history of the Southern SATIS carnival where St Mary's has won a cross country shield, and this would not have been possible without the effort of each and every runner.

Well done, team! We can't wait to see what 2024 will bring.
