Take note

Help us spread the warmth!

Week 7 is Winter Woolies week at SMC, and this year we will once again be rallying together to support the St Vincent de Paul Society's annual Winter Appeal.

During the week, we will be collecting donations of warm clothing, beanies, gloves, socks and non-perishable food items to help boost the supplies for the Vinnies warehouse.

With many people currently facing hardship and homelessness in Tasmania, we encourage all students and families to please dig deep and give generously.

Wednesday 7 June is our Winter Woolies and Pyjama Day, and students are invited to rug up and get cosy for a gold coin donation.

This year, we will be turning off the heaters between recess and lunchtime to raise awareness of the issues faced by those experiencing financial stress and other disadvantage in our community.

We thank you in advance for your support of this initiative.

Year 11/12 Drama production

The St Mary's College Drama 3 and Theatre Performance class is proud to present Antigone from 15-17 June 2023.

Featuring students in Years 11 and 12, this production is a retelling of Sophocles' classic Greek tragedy and is sure to be a highlight of our school year!

The production opens on Thursday 15 June at Moonah Arts Centre, showing until Saturday 17 June. Tickets available at the door.

Please note, this production includes mature themes that are consistent with Ancient Greek Tragedy and is therefore suitable for senior students and adults only.

2024 course selection

A reminder that the Year 9/10 and Year 11/12 2024 course guides were distributed to families via an email sent from the College on Thursday 18 May.

Students are encouraged to review the course guide with their parents and carers in the lead up to the course selection process for 2024.

Current students in Years 8-11 will receive an email with instructions on how to submit their choices just prior to the Portal opening. Additional information will be communicated later in the term.

Should you have any questions about the course selection process, please contact our Director of Curriculum, Chelsea Mouritz, on cmouritz@smc.tas.edu.au
