From the Principal

Damian Messer

I wish to thank Caroline Wilson-Haffenden and Andrew Clarke for their work as Acting Principal and Acting Deputy Principal during my period of long service leave.

With winter commencing tomorrow, the cool, crisp mornings and darker evenings can make our daily routines more challenging. The upcoming mid-year report sees units of works finishing, assignments due and our senior students preparing for mid-year exams. We look forward to our students continuing to engage in all that St Mary's has to offer as the term progresses.

Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia – Asia Pacific Summit on Girls' Education | 3–5 June 2023

This Saturday evening we welcome 400 delegates from 12 countries and 115 schools to the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia (AGSA) ‘Asia Pacific Summit on Girls’ Education’.  We have a number of staff and students involved in the event, which will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor. The Summit will culminate on Tuesday 6 June when we welcome more than 100 delegates onsite to tour the College.  We are very fortunate to be a member of the AGSA and we look forward to hosting this weekend, and to our involvement in future events.

Updated email security

A number of email platforms have updated their authentication security and recognition of increased cyber threat. This has resulted in an increased number of emails from many organisations, including St Mary’s College, being sent to junk email folders as a safety precaution. We advise you to please check this folder regularly to ensure you are not missing any emails from the College. I apologise if this has caused any inconvenience and I ask that you continue to monitor your junk folder.

Principal's tours and enrolments

A reminder that if you have friends or relatives interested in enrolling their children at the College, please let them know they will need to contact our Enrolment Officer, Nicole Wighton, on enrol@smc.tas.edu.au to progress an enrolment application. This is also a requirement for families who have a child already attending the College but need to enrol a sibling.
